Conference Activations

What to Expect

We create spaces at professional conferences, large meetings and other convenings to facilitate creative rest for participants. Activations include semi-structured art and reflection activities that allow participants to decompress, release stress, and prepare to engage in conferences with active attention.

❋ Creative Activities

Our activations are centered around arts activities, specifically collaging and zine-making. Participants are guided in making crafts that promote self-reflection and support stress relief.

❋ Structure and Freedom

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid.

❋ Expert Facilitation

Our sessions are led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ A Supportive Space

Our events provide participants with a warm hug and a soft place to land — a true creative respite.

Client Spotlight - Black Feminist Futures Conference

The Black Girl Rising LA team traveled to New Orleans to create a wellness activation for Black Feminist Futures Get Free conference. We designed a drop in creative space for conference participants to engage in a range of art activities, including collaging, zine-making, and more. The space provided a break from the conference, allowing participants to decompress before jumping into learning sessions.

  • "It felt like a calm no pressure kind of gathering. Really took my mind off of the anxiety from the world and life right now. A solid two hours in a creative flow was much needed."

    Angel, program participant

  • "I enjoyed casual community time. I love crafting so I enjoyed engaging in zine making and collage with others in a way that felt very low pressure"

    Maria, program participant

  • "I loved the calm and casual tone that was set—everyone was free to create solitarily or while socializing, but it was all in community so it still felt very intimate, especially since it was a small group."

    Janae, program participant
